GLENN FORBES is an award-winning screenwriter and director who has helmed over 300 films, videos, documentaries, music videos and commercials.
As a screenwriter, he has been optioned multiple times and produced. He is a former winner of the Austin Film Festival Screenplay Competition (Best out of over 4000 entries) for his script HEAD FIRST FACE DOWN. He also took 2nd place at the Page International Screenwriting Awards for his psychological thriller TUNNELVISION. He was awarded the $100,000 OMDC Al Waxman Calling Card grant and the Canadian Film Centre Worldwide Short Film Festival Screenplay Award for MASTERPIECE MONDAY. In 2009 he was hired to write a horror/thriller, END OF THE BEGINNING, for C10 Pictures. His sci-fi thriller THE WRECKAGE placed on The 2014 Blood List (1st place winner of the Search for New Blood) -- a list of the top unproduced dark-genre screenplays of a calendar year, voted on by over 100 Hollywood executives and released each Halloween. THE WRECKAGE is currently in final financing with A Bigger Boat (producers of Jigsaw, Saw 1-7, etc.) Between 2014 and 2018, he has been focussing on assignment work for producers in Los Angeles, Toronto, and London. Screenplays completed include the dramatic thrillers, COLOMBIA RUN and THE MAN WHO FORGOT. The submarine thriller, BLUE WHALE, and the horror films INHUMAN for A Bigger Boat, and BURNING LAKE for Misfits Entertainment (McQueen, Alleycats). Most recently he completed an adaptation of THE DAY SATAN CALLED for Third Culture Films and Rusty Halo Productions in Toronto. His first novel, the psychological thriller, THE FUTURE PRIME, will be published in 2019.
As a director he has made several short films including AMPLIFIER, THE UNDERGROUND, and MASTERPIECE MONDAY. MASTERPIECE MONDAY screened at multiple film festivals including the US Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, and the Los Angeles International Short Film Festival, winning awards in Toronto, St. Louis and Houston. The film was also licensed by the Independent Film Channel, Showcase, and Movieola. His first short, the science fiction thriller AMPLIFIER won top awards in New York and Houston and was released through Hollywood Video, Blockbuster and Rogers Video with sales to the Canadian sci-fi channel, Space, Movieola, and others. His commercial work includes spots for Canadian Tire, Sears, and Variety Club. His documentary work includes JUST WATCH, 12A:PATHBREAKER, and AN EVENING WITH MAYA ANGELOU.
